Washable Mask Production and Distribution among FDMN and Host Community as Part of Emergency COVID-19 Response in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh Project

Prottyashi has implemented “Washable mask production and distribution among FDMN and Host Community as part of emergency COVID-19 response in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh” project in Ukhiya, Tenkaf, Ramu, Chakaria and Maheshkhali Upazilas under Cox’s Bazar district. Under this project, 600 vulnerable women (240 in Ukhiya. 120 in Ramu and 240 in Maheshkhali) have been engaged with washable mask production and they have been provided with cash as remuneration for producing masks. The project has identified beneficiaries from Rajarkul and Fatekharkul union in Ramu, Kakara, Sahar beel, koiyar beel, Lokkharchar union in Chakaria and Kalarmarchara and Hoanok union in Maheshkhali upazila. The vulnerable women of these three Upazilas who have sewing machines have been provided with scissors and necessary materials as input support for sewing and they have produced 5,53,000 Pcs of three layers of washable face masks and earned an amount of BDT 7,72,8000 where each piece of mask costs BDT 14. It has contributed to the improvement of the livelihood of these beneficiaries. After production, these washable face masks have been distributed among 82431 households in different unions of Ramu, Maheshkhali and Chakaria Upazila and camp 4, 13, 22, 23, 25 and 27 in Makeshift settlements in Ukhiya using the local volunteers.
