Improving Menstrual Health Management of Adolescent Girls and Women in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Prottyashi and UNFPA targeted to equip adolescent boys aged 10-19 years with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that will empower them to improve the menstrual health of adolescent girls and women through life skills education programs, and menstrual hygiene management education for adolescent boys and menstrual hygiene management education.The Champions of Change (CoC) program specifically contributes to the improved prevention of and response to violence against adolescent girls in the camps as well as in immediate host communities. Through this project, 1440 adolescent boys have been receiving training on MHM-focused CoC Curriculum and 720 male caregivers have been receiving training on MHM-focused Male Caregivers Curriculum. 24 adolescent peer leaders will be developed under the project who will be acting as agent of change maker in the community to ensure the achievement of the project objectives even beyond the project period. The project team also organized Focused Group Discussion (FGD) with selected adolescent boys & male caregivers to find out the existing challenges and way forward. The beneficiaries are also provided with COVID-19 infection, prevention, and control items to support the implementation of Menstrual Health (CoC and male Caregivers). The Menstrual Health Management (MHM) education empowers them to fully participate in society and live a healthy, self-determined life.
