Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE): Reintegration of Returning Migrants

Prottyashi has been implementing this project with the funding of Wage Earner's Welfare Board (WEWB) under the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE) and technical support from IOM. The primary goal of the project is to facilitate the reintegration of returnee migrants, particularly who have returned after January, 2015 and onward specially affected by COVID-19 pandemic. The standard procedures of orientation, screening, registration, PFA service providing, counselling, and referring for returnees are being carried out in five Welfare Centers across five districts (Chattogram, Feni, Chandpur, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati) through community mobilization and communication with the relevant local government entities with a target of 33,000 returnees for PROTTYASHI on final referral & cash incentive receiver. The intervention for sustainable reintegration of returnee migrants mainly focused on comprehensive reintegration process with the dimension of economic, social and psychosocial approach at individual, community and structural level. This project will provide support to returnee migrants through providing Psychosocial First Aid support (PFA), economic and social reintegration by referred to service providers especially departments of DYD, Agriculture, Livestock, TTC, PKB and others private sectors who are providing skill training and help to secure a job and finally entitle to get cash incentive after receiving referral service. The project is focused to provide reintegration support following Integrated Approach to Reintegration (IAR). The project has referred 2500 beneficiaries to different department of government, NGOs and private sectors for availing referral services and provided cash incentives to the beneficiaries. The project will assist in outreach campaign, workshop with stakeholders, running the Welfare Center and returnee migrants’ registration at WC and Spot. The project will also disseminate safe migration information, assist returnee migrant’s registration during camp based activities and help to advocacy and community mobilization. The overall goal and objective of this project is to create a sustainable reintegration model in holistic approach for Bangladeshi returnee migrant workers.
